|
Robert Gerard Goulet was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1933 to Joseph and Jeanette Goulet. He began singing when he was five years old at family functions but quit because the applause gave him stage fright. Robert also attended Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music, where he studies acting and singing.
In October of 1960, Goulet stared in Camelot. It toured for four weeks and eventually ended up on Broadway. After the tour was finished, he appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, which made Goulet a household name.
In 1962, after staring on a couple of Broadway Shows, Columbia Records signed Goulet to their label that produced more than 15 albums. Later that year, he began working in film lending his voice in Gay-Purr-ee, it also stared Judy Garland. He has appeared in 16 movies and has even been parodied by Will Ferrell on Saturday Night Live, giving Goulet popularity with a new, younger audience.
