Joseph Harry Fowler Connick Jr. was born on September 11, 1967 in New Orleans. His father was a district attorney and his mother was a Supreme Court Justice. Harry learned to play the piano at age three and was performing publicly by age 6, by age 10 he had recorded an album with a local jazz group.
In Manhattan, Harry went to college and studied music. It was there where a Columbia Records executive heard him and persuaded him to sign a record contract, by age 20 his second CD was being released.
Harry won his first Grammy for Best Jazz Male Vocal for his work on the movie When Harry met Sally. Shortly after that in 1990, Harry made his big screen debut on Memphis Belle. After his movie debut, Harry made a couple of funk albums that were met with mixed reviews. Some fans welcomed the change, while others were disappointed with what they heard. However, soon after Harry returned to the classic sound as well as appeared in a couple more movies.
Harry has over 21 albums, 12 soundtrack appearances, and has been in over 13 movies.
